This year’s event included the book launch of “The Life Legacy of Bomb Girl, Louise Johnson: Beyond Courage” published in collaboration with Skyky Multicultural Learning Foundation.  In 1942, Louise left home alone and worked at Defence Industries Limited (D.I.L.) in Ajax, ON, joining thousands of women whose wartime labour helped supply Canada and its Allies during the Second World War.  They became known to history as the “Bomb Girls”.  When the factory closed, Louise stayed in the young community that would become the Town of Ajax, helping the new community grow.  Eighty years later, Louise still calls Ajax home.
