The Pak Canadian Cultural Society of Durham a.k.a Friends Indeed Canada (FIC) are proud to be the first Community Champion Partner with the Ajax Pickering Hospital Foundation.
They have committed to a five-year pledge of $250,000 to establish the Pak Canadian Society of Durham FIC Community Fund, with their 2025-2026 support focusing on Lakeridge Health’s Healthy Aging program.
This meaningful gift honours the sacrifices of our ancestors, who left their homeland in search of a better future for the next generation. Today, FIC continues that legacy by giving back to the community we now call home.

At Friends Indeed Canada, our mission is simple: Shattering Boundaries, Building Bridges. Together with the Pak Canadian Society of Durham, we are proud to give back to the country that welcomed us — and to Ajax, the town we now call home.
Many of us left everything behind to build a better life in Canada. That journey was not easy — our elders faced language barriers, cultural shifts, and countless challenges so the next generation could thrive. Today, as they grow older, it’s our turn to honour them.
As Ajax and the Ajax Pickering Hospital celebrate 70 years, we proudly support the Healthy Aging Program at Lakeridge Health – Ajax Pickering Hospital. This is our way of giving back — ensuring seniors, especially from newcomer communities, receive the care and dignity they deserve.

 | On September 21, 2025, nearly 200 guests from the Pakatenine community gathered to celebrate a significant milestone for our organization. Since our founding 15 years ago, we have been deeply engaged in charitable work. This year, coinciding with the 70th Anniversary of the Town of Ajax and the Ajax Pickering Hospital, we proudly committed to becoming the hospital’s very first Community Champion Partner. This celebration marked both our 15 years of community service and our enduring respect for the sacrifices of our ancestors, who left their homeland to secure a brighter future for the next generation. To honour that legacy, we chose to support the hospital’s Healthy Aging Program, located right here in Ajax—the place we now call home. Together, we raised close to $35,000 that evening, bringing us over 50% of our annual goal of $50,000! A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who made this achievement possible! |

On November 25, 2025, the Ajax Pickering Hospital Foundation were honoured to host members of Friends Indeed Canada at Lakeridge Gardens Long-Term Care Home to celebrate their $250,000 pledge in support of the Healthy Aging Program in our community, as well as unveil two plaques installed on benches located in front of the Home.
