On June 11, players & caddies from the Who’s Your Caddy? Ladies-Only Golf Tournament hurtled back to the 1980s…

Whether it was neon, workout legwarmers, preppy, power shoulder pads or cartoon favourites, everyone got into the spirit!

Thanks to all our amazing sponsors for their generous support; thanks to all the players for joining us; thanks to all the caddies for treating our women like the queens that they are; thank you to the hosts on the hospitality holes for bringing even more fun to the day; and thank you to all the volunteers whose hard work brings makes this a better event than we can ever imagine!

This year, the tournament is helping fund sepsis research that is being undertaken by Lakeridge Health.

Sepsis is a life-threatening condition that occurs when the body’s response to infection leads to severe organ dysfunction.

It remains a major global health challenge:

  • Approximately 40% mortality worldwide
  • Limited therapeutic innovation in the past decade
  • Increasing rates within health systems

In the effort to try and reduce the occurrence of sepsis, Lakeridge Health’s research team have completed the first phase of their sepsis research project where they designed a feasibility study to evaluate the use of methylene blue for septic shock. They have already had great success, including strong patient interest and protocol adherence, which has enabled the project to expand to the next step.
Phase Two includes:

  • Recruiting additional patients
  • Evaluating early signals of treatment effectiveness
  • Refining the protocols and data collection
  • Assessing whether the protocol can be successfully implemented across multiple hospitals

These accumulated results strengthen the research team’s pursuit of national peer-reviewed funding which would allow the research to be conducted at multiple hospitals, assembling a larger and more diverse patient population sample to assess the treatment’s effectiveness.

Did you know? At Lakeridge Health, research is at the core of its mission to enhance lives and advance patient care. With over 140 active studies across more than 20 programs, many of which are clinical trials, its research department supports a dynamic and expanding portfolio that spans both clinical and non-clinical initiatives.
