The 2024 Pickering Mayor’s Gala was its most successful event yet!
The event truly embraced our “Northern Spirit”, and displayed the values of equality, respect, safety, peace and nature.
In a room that sparkled and glowed, guests were also entertained by Canadian musical legend, Jim Cuddy of Blue Rodeo.
As Mayor Kevin Ashe wrote, “I am humbled and inspired by the incredible generosity of our sponsors, online auction donors, our volunteers and all those that attended.”
The Ajax Pickering Hospital is the major beneficiary of the Gala proceeds, and this year it will again be supporting the new Jerry Coughlan Health & Wellness Centre in Pickering; this time funding equipment that will be used in the pathology department. This includes a microtome – a specialized precision cutting instrument – that enables pathologists to look for the tiniest sign of cancer and helps every part of the lab process to be efficient and accurate, because every day that goes by without having a diagnosis is another day too long.
As well as supporting our Hospital, the Gala is providing funding to other local organizations who inspire our youth to be the best that they can be and provide much-needed food for those that often struggle to feed their families.
