About the Foundation
Opened in 1954, the Ajax and Pickering General Hospital has a rich history of providing excellent health care to Ajax, Pickering and west Durham residents for seven decades.
The Ajax Pickering Hospital Foundation was established in 1994 as a registered charitable foundation to benefit the Ajax and Pickering General Hospital.
In 2016 we joined Lakeridge Health and now have the responsibility for providing philanthropic support for health care in the western part of Durham. This includes an acute care hospital in Ajax, Lakeridge Gardens Long-Term Care Home, the Jerry Coughlan Health & Wellness Centre and, soon, the new Complex and Continuing Care hospital in Pickering.
With five hospitals, four emergency departments, three critical care units, a long-term care home, a full range of medical and surgical specialties, more than 20 community health-care locations and a state-of-the-art centre within the Jerry Coughlan Health & Wellness Centre, Lakeridge Health offers some of the broadest and and most comprehensive acute care, ambulatory care, and long-term care services in Ontario.

Our Mission
The Ajax Pickering Hospital Foundation strives to help save lives, restore health and provide compassionate care by raising funds that directly benefit the patients at the Ajax Pickering Hospital and the Jerry Coughlan Health & Wellness Centre, as well as the residents of Lakeridge Gardens Long-Term Care Home.

Lakeridge Health is home to several regional specialty centres and services, including the Central East Regional Cancer Program, R.S. McLaughlin Durham Regional Cancer Centre, The Shoulder Centre, and eye care and chronic kidney disease services. Additionally, we are proud to serve our community with a full suite of inpatient, ambulatory, and community-based mental health and addictions services, as well as provide safe, high-quality, compassionate care in our state-of-the-art long-term care home, Lakeridge Gardens.
